Talking 20s: Digitally Savvy, Socially Challenged …

I’m a cord-cutting, iPhone yielding, Snapchat-obsessed, multitasking, texting-and-driving twentysomething- year old. And I’m all for millennial rights; but I absolutely draw the line at the alarming decline of our communication and social skills. Its A Text, Its A Tweet, Its Our Attention Span Getting Shorter

I don’t think we should acknowledge attention deficit as a disorder anymore. In fact, if your attention span is longer than 10 seconds, YOU’RE the one with the disorder.  I read somewhere that the average person’s attention span has dropped from 12 to 8 seconds since the start of the digital age; that’s one second LESS than a gold fish. And that’s the “average” person. For millennials, I’m pretty sure our attention spans stop promptly at about 5 seconds.                                           …

Confessions Of An Overachiever: When Good Isn’t Good Enough

For as long as I can remember, particularly over the last year, I’ve been trying to figure out why nothing ever feels good enough for me. Although I graduated from Howard University in four years, debt free with a 3.8 GPA; a study abroad experience; and an extensive portfolio of internship and extracurricular activities under my belt, I’m not accomplished enough. Despite my full-time job and half-dozen side jobs/projects, I don’t work enough. I have no free time and my family is always complaining about how difficult it is to get me on the phone, but I’m not busy enough….
